The South Fork of the Root River is one of Southern Minnesota's larger and premier trout streams. The South Fork runs over beds of limestone that provide the high pH, fertile spring water that provides a super habitat for trout.

The East Walker River is a tributary of the Walker River in eastern California and western Nevada. It is some 90 miles long and drains the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada. It is a tailwater flowing along Highway #182  from the Bridgeport Reservoir into Walker Lake in Nevada.

The Big Wood River's name comes from the many cottonwood trees growing along the banks and often falling into the river. The Big wood flows along Idaho Rt. 75 for about 50 miles and is well known by those who ski at Sun Valley. It is a freestone stream with a good population of rainbow trout.

The Mad River is formed by several spring creeks just north of Campbell Hill near the city of Bellefontaine and flows approximately 60 miles southwest to Dayton where it joins the Great Miami River.

The Kickapoo River starts near Wilton Wisconsin and follows a crooked path for about 125 miles before meeting with the Wisconsin River near Wauzeka. The Kickapoo River is not very wide, reaching 50 feet wide.

The North Fork of the White River is one of the finest trout streams in the state of Missouri and the Ozark Mountains. The North Fork is one of the best rivers for wildly reproducing rainbow trout in the entire USA and in addition, the North Fork has trophy size brown trout as well.

With an estimated 80,000+ trout in the first 4 miles or so below the dam, the San Juan River offers one of the best tailwater fisheries in America. There are appreciable numbers of trout in the river for approximately 20 miles, though most of the fishing action occurs in the uppermost 10 miles.

The Green River Tailwater below Flaming Gorge Dam is one of the top tailwater fly fishing destinations in the West. The Green River is located in a remote area of Northeastern Utah but it is fairly close to Salt Lake City.
