I've found that late fall is becoming one of my favorite times of the year to fish the Smokies. I consider late fall to be from the first of November until the winter solstice. While the trout fishing in late fall may not provide the largest number of fish, I've found that fishing this time of year offers decent fishing with some additional benefits.
Hi, As I sat on my desk I received a phone call from a West Virginia fly fisherman who turned down the Sunday NFL Football game that his fishing buddies were going to watch. There are caddisflies that are commonly called “fall caddis flies” since they do in fact hatch in the fall. Another non descriptive name for these caddisflies is October Caddis. The insects called by those names as well, as other names, are members of the Limnephilidae family of caddisflies. These caddisflies are often called the "tube-case caddis" because all of the different species within the family have tube shaped, cases made of sticks, small pebbles, or other material found on the bottom of the stream.
