One of the things that has always been interesting to me, is what I call multi-tasking while trout fishing. In this case, what I mean, is that you can include other activities with your trout fishing. This could be as simple as floating down a river in a drift boat or canoe, hiking/backpacking along a remote stream while trout fishing, or simply taking a quick swim in the pools of the stream. Here are some other interesting multi-tasking trout fishing excursions in my area of the country:
Trout fishing Whitetop Laurel Creek while bike riding along the Virginia Creeper Trail.
Trout fishing and picking blueberries at Graveyard Fields along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the late summer.
Trout fishing the Saluda River and visiting Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, SC.
Trout fishing and exploring history and even purchasing some old fashioned ground flour from Mingus Mill in the Oconaluftee River area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Trout fishing the Davidson River, and visiting the state trout hatchery located there.
In the western part of the US, there is even more unusual multi-tasking opportunities. For example, you can enjoy the petroglyphs in the area, and fish the Green River in Utah or explore the great fishing in the Yellowstone National Park.
However, the best form of multi-tasking while trout fishing involves spending time with someone else (spouse, father, children, friends, etc.).
