Trout in the Classroom School Project

Wed, 09/30/2009 - 13:09 -- jmaslar

Last year the Rocky River Trout Unlimited Chapter (RRTU) had a very successful trout learning program for students at Davidson Day School . They were able to take trout eggs, care for them, watch them hatch into “fry” and then grow into fingerlings. Later in the spring they released their pets at South Mountains State Park . RRTU is teaming up with Vickie Carbone from the Davidson Middle School to conduct the same program again this year.

Trout Photos

We at Trout University have posted some of our trout photos on our gallery.  However, we have seldom carried our camera along on outings.  Frankly, when we have had our camera along, we have not taken the time to take good photos and photography has not been one of our interests.

Does Size Matter?

Wed, 09/23/2009 - 16:18 -- jmaslar

Does size really matter?  Well everyone liks to show off that big trophy trout in a photo or have it wall mounted.  Anglers will often relate stories about that big brown trout that shook off the hook or dove to the bottom wrapping the line around a log.  That makes for interesting talk around the fireplace in the winter, but does it really matter.

Line Spool Holder

Wed, 09/23/2009 - 09:31 -- jmaslar

I could not find a simple, yet satisfactory, line winder to load fishing line onto a reel. Too often they were wimpy held in place with suction cups, attached to the rod itself, or even made of plastic.  (I still have pencil lead embedded in my hand due to the failure of a suction cup on a pencil sharpener.) So, I turned the project over to the Research Department at TroutUniversity.
