JERRY Due to serious problems with his eyes encountered early in life Jerry has done very little fly fishing. Jerry specializes in in-line spinners with a preference for the 1/8 to 1/4 ounce lures that have been especially productive in the southeast, earning him the title of "Spin Doctor." Although there are several good in-ine spinners on the market, such as the Anglica by Mepps, he has found that the Rooster Tails offer a good combination of economy and effectiveness. Jerry has found that the key to using spinners is for the angler to get accustomed to one manufacturer, developing the accuracy required for good casts; and then developing confidence in using that spinner. Jerry has perfected, along with Steve, the double teaming approach.
Jerry grew up in Upstate New York where he worked as a mechanical engineer with IBM. While in New York, he fished for small mouth bass and large mouth bass. After moving to Charlotte, North Carolina with IBM in January of 1979, Jerry took up trout fishing in the beautiful mountains of NC and Tenn. He was instantly attracted to the beauty of the state and the beauty of the trout as well. Since then, he has found his way thru the Southeast, Northeast, Colorado, and Alaska. Jerry is very supportive of the trout habitat and resources and is an active member of Trout Unlimited.
Jerry started his son Stephen fishing when Stephen was only 3 years old. You might say Stephen grew up with a trout pole in his hand. Stephen was blessed with great eyesight and instantly became a fly fisherman far surpassing the "Spin Doctor".
