George Daniel a friend of Trout University won the United States National Fly Fishing Championship which was held in his home state of Pennsylvania in October. The championship was held on the world class trout fishing waters of Juniata River, Penns Creek, Fishing Creek, and Spring Creek. Since George is from Lock Haven in Potter County, that area was right down his alley, so to speak.
This area of Pennsylvania is a beautiful area well known for it scenery, but the weather on those October days was anything but beautiful. The waters were so high that George found himself having to fish in the trees and jig his root beer bugger through the murky waters. George is an world expert in using nymphs so this was a big step for George to take, howevr, George counts his determination as one of the reasons that he won the championship.
The winning of this championship assures Geogre a spot on Team USA Poland along with Lance Egan, Utah. Brian Kimmel, Montana. Riley Cotter, Colorado. Anthony Naranja, Colorado. Team USA Poland will compete in the World Fly fishing Championsip which will be held in Poland in June of 2010. Good luck to Team USA Poland as they attemp to bring home the gold.
