More about Mayfly Burrower Nymphs and Mayfly clinger Nymphs
Fly Line:
We recommend either a 4, 5 and 6 weight fly lines for Dukes Creek in Georgia. You only
need a floating fly line.
Fly Rod:
We recommend either a 4, 5 or 6 weight fly rod for the respective line size you choose to
use. The 4 weight fly rod should bi a medium action, 8 to 9 foot fly rod. The 5 weight fly rod
should in a medium to med-fast action and a 8 to 9 foot length. The 6 weight fly rod should
be a medium-fast to fast action for large nymphs and light streamers. It should be at least 9
foot in length.
Fly Reel:
The fly reel used should be for each of the 4, 5 and 6 weight lines you use and each have a
very good drag. We prefer disc drags but there are other types that will work as well. It
should be smooth.
Leaders:
Leaders should size 0X to 6X and be from 7 and a half to 12 feet long. Use shorter leaders
for streamers.
Tippet:
You should have spare tippet in 0X and 6X. Some anglers prefer fluorocarbon but mono is
fine.
Waders:
Waders are preferred for fly fishing Dukes Creek. We prefer the breathable type. Warm
weather would permit wet wading.
Wading Boots:
Wading boots will be needed. Felt soles work best but you may want to consider the new
rubber soles.
Landing Net:
A landing net would be preferred by most anglers but not absolutely necessary.
