Confirmed:
Yes, the three pound, nine and 1/2 ounce brook trout snagged by Wayne E. Hallberg of Travelers Rest, SC, is indeed the new South Carolina brook trout record. According to Wayne our friend at Trout University (TroutProStore.com) he was fishing in the North Saluda River near Greenville, SC and caught what was confirmed to be the new state record brook trout. (The previous record was 3 lbs. 2 oz.). Explained in his words " I was using a super duper spinner and had to physically flip the fish up on the bank in order to land him. Just thought you might be interested".
Trout University extends our congratulations to Wayne, keep up the good work! By the way, all the fresh water SC state records can be found on the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
