We at Trout University are always looking for streams where the entire family can enjoy trout fishing and not be far away from the major cities. My friend Cuzin David went to camp last weekend with his family at the Catawba Falls Campground located on the Catawba River in the North Carolina town of Old Fort. The river is named after the Catawba tribe of Native Americans. They were known in their own language as the Kawahcatawbas, "the people of the river".
The river is stocked with brook, rainbow and brown trout from March thru July and David with his family got the opportunity to watch the trout being stocked. I don't think that he is exerating when he indicated that he saw a 17" trout that was caught while he was there.
