Founder's Philosophy

This website was founded for the purpose of providing knowledge to the beginner trout fisherman as well as the more experienced.  When we decided to start fishing in the Southeast, we had no knowledge whatsoever.  We did not know what species live in the area, where to find them, their habits or even what equipment to use. Our education progressed from, Gatlinburg Tennessee stocked trout, to the Smoky Mountains National Park  for stocked trout and finally to the wild trout not only in the parks, but throughout the Southeast.

It is our intent to shorten this learning experience for new fishermen and to share experiences with advanced fishermen.  We have found that the most challenging and most rewarding fishing was for the wild trout since they are harder to find, and more wary.  However, the rewards are greater since they are more feisty and, for the meat fisherman, more tasty; and that is because they live in more rapid waters than exist in a hatchery.  We feel that we need to encourage catch and release strictly on non-stocked streams, for preservation purposes.
